Surgery Department at TVEH
The TVEH Surgery department team is dedicated to helping when your pet needs the skilled hands of a knowledgeable and experienced surgeon.
Our four surgeons: Dr. Debbie Reynolds, Dr. Carl Porter, Dr. Mitch Gillick and Dr. Joanne Cockshutt, offer a complete range of surgical services, specializing in both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. The department's board-certified surgeons are highly experienced in thoracic, abdominal, reconstructive and cancer surgery, as well as minimally-invasive surgery (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy). As well, the Surgery department is committed to providing cutting-edge orthopedic procedures for our patients, from arthroscopy to fracture repair, and from joint stabilization to joint replacement. We offer both elbow (CUE & TATE) and hip (Kyon & Biometrix) replacement for animals with advanced arthritis, while TPLO and Arthrex TightRope procedures are available for cruciate ligament tears. In conjunction with the Neurology department, we also offer a full array of neurosurgical procedures.
Our five fully-equipped surgical suites have state-of-the-art monitoring and anesthetic equipment. Our surgeons and dedicated technicians are committed to ensuring the safest and most pain-free experience for your pet. Pain management is integrated into the preoperative plan for all patients, and postoperatively, 24 hour intensive care is available in our Critical Care Unit. An experienced veterinarian is always in-hospital to monitor all postoperative patients, while a surgeon is on call for out-of-hours emergencies.
Our team of surgeons and surgery staff are supported by specialists in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging, Critical Care and Rehabilitation. By emphasizing a team approach, we ensure that your pet receives the most compassionate, comprehensive care possible.
